Starting today, August 6, 2026, Family Storage has begun a complete renewal.

Why Now

Family Storage has been a place for you to reliably preserve and share your family's records. Over time, the devices people use to view it, and the ways we live, have gradually changed.

To make it easier to view and easier to use, even from a smartphone — and so that it can continue for many years to come — we decided to rebuild it now.

Toward the Next 10 Years

By tracing the family register (koseki), your family's story can be followed back about 150 years. But records are not only for looking back at the past.

They are also something to hand down to your children and grandchildren, and on through the next 10 years and beyond. So that they can be passed on — we are now laying the foundation for that.

What Will Change

• Screens that are easy to view, even on a smartphone
• A clearer, easier experience where you won't get lost
• We are also preparing a new way for you to gently look back on your family's story

During the renewal, you can continue to use the current service as it is. As things gradually take shape, we will share our progress here from time to time.
